The Absorbed Tradition is a publication take-over of the seminal 60's magazine, curated, written, and photographed by entirely by Heck. It is structured in two parts: Conversations on Photography; and Works.

In the first section Heck engages in conversation with a range of editors, professors, curators, and artists such as Kathy Ryan from The New York Times Magazine; Vince Aletti, writer and former photography critic for The New Yorker; Taryn Simon, artist; Elinor Carruci, artist; Susan Bright, curator and writer; George Pitts, former professor at Parsons School for Design; and Miranda Lichtenstein, artist.

The second section is comprised of new works by Heck, presented alongside archival family photographs by Jerry Schatzberg.

Printed in an edition of 1,000 copies.
